This notice covers this website only. The BioSyn time and attendance system and apps are covered by the BioSyn Privacy Policy.
What information is collected, and why?
You can read this site without giving us any personal information. There are no sign-up, contact or newsletter forms here. Links such as Book a Demo take you to the BioSyn website, where BioSyn’s own privacy policy applies.
The self-assessment calculates your result in your browser. Your answers are not saved or sent to us. Please don’t enter employee names, health information or attendance records into it.
Technical information. Like most websites, the hosting servers automatically record technical details, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and working. The site does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
Fonts. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address. Google’s own privacy policy applies to that connection.
If we add a newsletter, contact form, analytics or any other service that collects personal information, we will update this notice before it goes live, and ask for your consent where it is required.
Who may receive information?
Technical information is available to authorised BioSyn staff and to our hosting provider, which processes it on our behalf. We don’t sell personal information. We may disclose information where the law requires it, for example in response to a lawful request from a public authority.
Service providers may process information outside South Africa. Where they do, we take reasonable steps to make sure adequate controls are in place to protect it.
How long is information kept?
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes above, or for as long as the law requires. Technical logs are generally kept for a shorter period, unless they are needed to investigate a security problem.
How is information protected?
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No method of sending or storing information over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
Subject to POPIA’s requirements and applicable exceptions, you may ask to access your personal information, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted where appropriate, or object to its processing.
To make a request, contact BioSyn using the details above. We may need to verify your identity before disclosing or changing personal information. Please don’t send identity documents or sensitive details with your first enquiry.
Concerns and complaints
You may raise a privacy concern with BioSyn using the details above. You also have the right to complain to South Africa’s Information Regulator about alleged interference with the protection of your personal information. See the Regulator’s current complaints procedure and POPIA forms.
